Kittens - Free to good homes
This is 1 of 4 lovely little kittens that our famous cat, Felix, had on 1st July.
For those of you who don't already know, Felix has starred in a movie "Cat-Trap" and her kittens are pretty sure to have inherited her acting genes.
We are keeping one kitten ourselves and have found a good home for another but that still leaves 2.
Contact me before September ends or the doggie gets them :-)
Learning to draw (part 2)
I am still messing about with paints, pencils, crayons & charcoal. I don't think I'll ever be good at this stuff. Not like my mate Irene here. Now she is a natural!
She does occasionally have problems with faces though, getting everything in perspective can be tricky. I was able to help her out with this by explaining my "hands on" approach to portraiture. This method involves painting your lips, nose and eyes and then pressing your face firmly against the canvas. She tried it out and it worked :-)
Fermanagh Lakes
I spent a few lazy days down on the Fermanagh lakes with the kids. It was sooooooooooooooo hot. The kids all went into the lakes to cool off regardless of the fact that the water was green.

One startling revelation was the discovery that Nicole could walk on water. As far as I know this has only happened once before.
My claim to fame
I have recently been proof-reading a novel called Chionophobia for a good friend; Darryl Sloan. The novel is set in Clounagh JHS and it is about "sticky snow". I was the only female proof-reader. The book has a strong female lead character and Darryl was worried that he had made her too "blokey". He wanted me to check if she was "girly" enough. Hmmmm....bad choice of proof-reader? Does anyone know any girl more blokey than me? Anyway, I found the female character was pretty much spot on.

So, back to the book - a quote from Chinophobia reads:
"The simple rule that everyone needs to obey is this: don't go outside. At the risk of sounding morbid, I'm going to spell it out for you: if you go outside, we will end up having to use a scalpel on your flesh to get you back inside. So if anyone is scared and has some panicky thoughts about getting home to Mum and Dad, put them out of your head right now." The book features Eddie, my 13yr old son, on the cover. (Well on the current version of the cover - I don't think Darryl has everything signed, sealed and delivered just yet.)
Oh, I should mention - the book is
absolutely brilliant, I couldn't set it down!!! Darryl does a lot more than just write novels - he makes films and music too and has a pretty addictive blog going which is well worth checking out!
Learning to draw
I am trying to draw. I copied (not traced) this woman from one of those "Teach Yourself How to Draw" books. It is not as easy as it sounds however so I was mighty pleased with this effort.
Time for an update...........
Yeah, time to update my blog. I have been taking a little bit of flak over the state of my web site lately. Even my own kids have been at me to do something. I've not been in the mood recently and I'm not sure I am now either, but sure.....
I'm going to have a root anound and see if I can find anything interesting to look at because I can't think of anything I want to say. That's my problem see..... I mean I have opinions and I have plenty to say but it's mostly boring stuff that you wouldn't want to read about on my web site.
